August Classes

Birth Partner Training 101- There are 2 sessions for this class. Doula Rhonda has a book recommendation and will email a list of items to bring (along with your pregnant partner) to the classes. This class is to give you a real idea of what to expect at the birth and practical ideas on how to prepare ahead of time.
Beginning Breastfeeding for New Moms (and Dads are invited at no charge)- Whatever stage you are in along your journey is perfectly fine! If you breastfed in the past but would like a refresher course on the basics, come on in! We will start from the basics on how your body makes the milk for your baby and proceed through the mechanics of why a solid latch and good positioning during feeds are so important.
**This class is a one session class, and Doula Rhonda knows you have a lot of questions….so, as a little doula bonus, she is giving you the FREE option along with registration and attendance to choose if you’d like a one hour breastfeeding counseling session with her following the birth OR a one hour session before the birth to discuss how to set up your breastfeeding station in your home.
September Classes
Why You Should Consider Doula Support For Your Upcoming Birth -6:30-8pm-Date to be finalized - FREE CLASS
This is an informational class about doulas. Who are they? What do they do? Why should I consider hiring one for my upcoming birth? Come and meet Doula Rhonda, bring all your questions and learn all about the doula world! It’s more than just birth!
Preparing For Postpartum- 6pm-9pm-$ 75 per couple. **Like the Beg Breastfeeding class in August, this class will include a one hour visit by Doula Rhonda following the birth to check in and answer questions you may have getting aquainted with your newborn.
Come and learn about ways to prepare your home and heart for your little one(s) on the way! We will discuss relaxation strategies, meal prep ideas, what to buy ahead of time, bottle vs breastfeeding considerations, cloth or disposable diaper differences and even how to manage those well-meaning friends and family who want to visit in the first few weeks! This is your all-around “before the baby” basics class for new parents!
**Please Note: I will also be offering classes at the Verona Community and Recreation Center beginning September. Here are the offerings. I’ll be adding the dates as they are finalized.
Bump2Baby Birth Series Classes
SEPTEMBER CLASSES
Bump2 Baby Birthing Class $100 per couple 3 sessions/2 hours each - This class will be including the creation of your birth plan. Session 1 will be set aside for this purpose. Sessions 2 and 3 we will discuss the use and practice various forms of comfort measures such as relaxation techniques, focused breathing, comb technique, hip squeezes and all kinds of options you can use during the labor process. You’ll be given some “homework” to take home and practice between sessions to get you started! *This is an all-inclusive birth class where we will touch on several topics you may encounter throughout your birth journey.
Completing your Baby Registry $40 per couple $25 single One 2 hour session
So, you have your baby shower coming up and have no idea what to put down for your registry. Seems easy enough, but with all the choices of items how do you know what to ask for on your list? Doula Rhonda will bring copies of baby registries from a few area stores and she will help you through the process!
Preparing for Postpartum $75 per couple $60 single 2 sessions/2 hour sessions
Doula Rhonda will give some practical advice about how to prepare AFTER baby and mom come home from the hospital. Discussions will range from how to decide what kind of diapers/diaper cream to use to how to handle the visitors who show up at your door. Information will be given on several topics, so this one you don’t want to miss!
OCTOBER CLASSES
Baby Gear Bootcamp $40 per couple/ $25 single 1 session/2 hours
What items on the market do you really need? We will discuss the pros and cons of many items you could choose to register/buy before baby comes. This is particularly helpful for new parents the first time around. We will also discuss the pros/cons of buying baby items second hand or accepting hand-me-down items from good-meaning friends and relatives. Do you know the risks? Come and find out!
Birth Plan Basics 101- $75 per couple/$60 single 1 session/2 hours
Has your provider asked you to present a birth plan? A what? Exactly. Birth plans are right up the doula alley! Doula Rhonda will walk couples through all the procedures and many“what if” situations that may transpire during your birth journey and help you to get everything you’d like done onto a document that’s ready to go for your provider.
NOVEMBER CLASSES
Birth Helper Training – $100 per couple (mom needs a support person) 3 sessions/2 hour sessions
This is a real hands-on birth helper class. It’s more intense than the Birth Class listed for Sept. Here, Doula Rhonda will be discussing what birth helpers can do long before the birth to help support their partner until well afterwards. She will discuss practical things such as household helps to preparing easy meals to preparing for postpartum! Wear comfy clothes and bring your birth balls! She will be instructing ways to help ease the pain of labor not only using the ball, but in many other ways using skills and tools she uses for her own client births!
DECEMBER CLASSES

JANUARY CLASSES
Beginning Breastfeeding 101- 1 session/3 hours $125 includes one hour of breastfeeding support from Doula Rhonda following the birth of your baby.
As a certified breastfeeding counselor, Doula Rhonda just loves talking to expectant and new moms about feeding their babies. She will give an overall explanation of how the process works between mom and baby, the importance of positions that work and how to enable a good latch. She will give you some troubleshooting ideas to try when situations pop up and discuss the importance of meeting with an IBCBC before the birth if possible. What is an IBCBC? Come to class and learn all about them-and the benefits!

FEBRUARY CLASSES
Bump2 Baby Birthing Class $100 per couple 3 sessions/2 hours each
Doula Rhonda, a certified Childbirth Educator, will lead couples through all things childbirth. This is a hands-on class using birth balls, labor tools, relaxation techniques, focused breathing and other techniques she uses in her doula practice. One session will be devoted exclusively to developing a birth plan for students. Unlike an online class, you will be able to have one-on-one with a certified birth doula to answer your questions before, during and after the class ends.
What to Pack For The Hospital $40 couple/$25 single 1 session/ 2 hours
Doula Rhonda always has questions about this topic. What do you really need to take with you, what does the hospital provide and what should you expect for snacking/meals while laboring and afterwards? She has it covered and will have some items to show you that you probably never have even considered!
